On the 11th August 1962, the Gelli-Galed (Rhondda) Lifeguard Club was officially registered with the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) Sixty years later, the Rhondda (Cold Knap) Lifeguard Club, are celebrating their Diamond Anniversary, on Sunday 14th August, at the lifeguard station, Cold Knap.
In their sixty years, the club has saved 129 lives, can there be a more fitting tribute to their volunteers and in particular, their founder members, Sgt Bill Dummer and their current President, Les Lewis.
Please come and join us at the lifeguard station between 13:00 and 16:00 on the 14th and share your stories with us over a cup of tea and some cakes.
